Welcome to South Park Dental Practice
Introducing the new owner of South Park Dental Practice
Dr Sanjay Gautam
BDS (Lond) 1993 LDS RCS Eng 1994 MFGDP(UK) 1996
I would like to extend a warm welcome to you and thank you for your continued support of our practice.
I know that many of you will have been coming to the practice for several years and have possibly seen Dr Ian Auckland for most of your appointments. From Monday 7th December, Dr Auckland has decided to reduce his clinical hours and therefore I would just like to inform you that as of this date your next dental appointment will be with myself. Patients registered with Dr Barnfather will continue to see him and these changes will not affect them.
I realise that some patients maybe apprehensive when they see a new dentist, so I would like to take this opportunity to share a bit of information about myself.
I was born and grew up in Yorkshire. I always wanted to be a dentist and my parents supported my decison and helped me fulfil my dream. I qualified as a Dentist in 1993 from Kings College in London, and returned to Yorkshire straight after, to start my career. I did my Vocational Training for a year in Hull and then worked at a mixed practice in Heckmondwike for 13 years. Since 2007, I have been working at Perfect Smile Clinic in Leeds and York.
My hobbies are varied, but I like travelling, cooking and occasional bike rides with my children.
I am dedicated to continuing my Professional Development in order to offer the very best of care to my patients, and regularly attend courses to keep up with the latest knowledge and techniques. I strongly believe ,”Prevention is better than cure”. I have several post graduate qualifications and I have been a Educational Supervisor for more than 20 dentists. Currently, I am pursuing a diploma in Clear Aligner Therapy.
I am sure that there will be a few changes along the way, but most of all I want to reassure you that you will continue to receive the high quality treatment, that you have come to expect from our practice. If you do have any questions or concerns at all, then please ask; I will be happy to discuss these with you.
New ways of working during the Covid-19 Pandemic
Under the current Covid tier system introduced in December, dental surgeries have been allowed to remain open. We must, however, continue to operate under strict guidelines and will continue to see patients under our already tested protocols which provide a safe environment to both our patients and members of the dental team.
We have implemented appropriate Social Distancing rules and will follow best practice guidelines and continue to improve and adapt our already robust cross infection protocols in light of the Covid-19 pandemic.
We are now carrying out check-ups and are mainly contacting patients by telephone and email. We carry out a triage process for your safety and ask you to complete a consent form together with a new medical history form. If you are a registered patient and we have not already contacted you, please feel free to phone the practice and we will arrange an appointment. We will contact all registered patients in due course. We apologise that there has been a delay in sending out recalls, but we are doing our best within the constraints of the current situation.
We are zoning appointments and are allocating some sessions for check-ups only and other sessions for fillings where aerosols are created. After appointments when any aerosols are produced, the surgery must be left empty for a fallow time to allow aerosols to settle before deep cleaning is carried out. These new processes limit the availability of more complex treatments.
We use the appropriate and recommended Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), for which we need to make a surcharge when carrying out treatment – but not for check-ups. This surcharge only partly covers the additional PPE costs and the increased surgery time. We hope to lower or stop these fees when we are able. The increased level of PPE is for your protection and the protection of the dental team
When you attend the practice for an appointment, we will have new ways of working and would ask you to comply with the new processes. If you have been sent forms, please complete and bring them to your appointment.
You will be guided through the new processes when you arrive. We need to be strict on how we manage your visit to the practice and would ask you to follow these instructions: -
- Only the patient can enter the practice. (A child can be accompanied by one adult only)
- Do not arrive too early or be late for the allotted time as we will be unable to see you.
- Wait in your car (if you arrived in one or wait outside). Do not enter the building until asked.
- When you arrive, phone (01423) 502237 to let us know you have arrived as the door may be locked.
- Please do not bring anything into the surgery that is not essential.
- Please wear a face covering when you enter the practice. You may be given additional PPE.
- Do not touch door handles or surfaces
- On arrival please use the alcohol hand rub available to sanitise your hands
- In waiting room do not sit on the hatched seats and maintain social distancing as much as possible
Thank you for your patience, cooperation and continued support through these challenging times.
